AHA MEDIA discovers UGM Women’s Drop In Centre on Hastings and Princess in Vancouver being demolished!
AHA MEDIA while traveling on the Bus going Eastbound on Hastings Street was surprised to discover the UGM ( Union Gospel Mission) Women’s Centre being demolished!
The following three photos were taken from inside of a moving bus going Eastbound into Strathcona along Hastings Street.

Sources say that the UGM Women’s Drop In Centre was bulldozed to make way for new supportive women’s housing to be built.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, coffee, tea and snacks are provided between 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm, and a hot, nutritious meal is served at 5:00 pm.

Calling All Art Lovers to Attend Art in the City
West End’s Visual Art Show and Sale

Vancouver – May 1st thru May3rd, 2009 – The West End Community Centre invites you to Art in the City, a visual art show and sale featuring over 65 local artists from Vancouver, BC and beyond. Admission is free at this three-day event showcasing paintings, drawings, illustrations, pottery, carvings, photography and sculptures by local artists and artisans.

Friday, May 1st – 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Saturday, May 2nd – 10:00am – 8:00pm
Sunday, May 3rd – 10:00am – 4:00pm

The West End Community Centre is located at 870 Denman Street with parking available off Haro Street.

This is our fourth annual Art in the City event; we are excited to host an eclectic and incredibly talented group of local artists and artisans along with over 2,000 art lovers who come out to appreciate and purchase art. We are offering a special door prize this year which will be awarded at 3:00pm on Sunday. This year’s prize is artwork “Urban Legend” by feature artist Dylan Schultz. Art in the City is an event you don’t want to miss!


The West End Community Centre is operated by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation in partnership with the West End Community Centre Association (WECCA). WECCA is a community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is to enhance the quality of life of the West End and Coal Harbour communities by providing recreational, educational and social activities and services which are accessible and responsive to the changing needs of the communities.

Longer Hours, Bigger Menu and FREE WIFI to come for Super Sub in Vancouver Downtown Eastside
It’s been over a month since Super Sub opened up at 106 East Hastings by Columbia giving Vancouver Downtown Eastside residents a chance to eat fresh and healthy meals at affordable prices 🙂

Exciting new changes include more dining tables and free WIFI for customers. Super Sub menu has expanded to include breakfast items and his hours of operation are from 7 A.M. to 2 A.M! 🙂
The Vancouver Downtown Eastside needs healthy and great tasting late night places to eat and FREE WIFI to stay connected to the online communities! 🙂
