As legal, adult-use cannabis markets become established and begin to mature, there is a departure from traditional cannabis consumption patterns such as smoking. Health concerns, social stigma and shifting consumer preference are driving a surge in demand for the production of differentiated cannabis consumables. Extraction technology – and how extracts are formulated – play a key role in the development of products that appeal to the next generation of cannabis consumer. There is an ever-increasing array of options within extraction technology, but do all stakeholders share cohesive goals? From producers, to manufacturers, formulators, and consumers, cannabis is a rapidly changing and, at times, confusing market sector. Supercritical carbon dioxide or ethanol extraction?
