AHA MEDIA observed pigeons in both cities of New Westmninster and Vancouver Downtown Eastside (DTES).

In the following video,  camera -shy pigeons searched for food along the railway tracks near the Westminster Quay in New Westminster.

This was filmed by April Smith of AHA MEDIA on a Nokia N95 mobile cameraphone. However, in the Vancouver Downtown Eastside, right at Main and Hastings, the pigeons were brave enough to withstand cars zooming past and other humans to be able to eat their meal of discarded pizza crusts.

The following photos illustrate the juxtaposition of the HAVE NOTS ( corner of Main and Hastings Streets) to the HAVES ( Corner of Main and Cordova Streets).

A man with a shopping cart comes around the corner of  Hastings and travels down Main Street towards the well heeled folks at Cinema 319 and their Red Carpet Gala Event at the corner of Main and Cordova.

With the addition of a bottle of grapefruit juice, the total cost of the meal below was only $4.00!  Much more nutritious and healthy than other options in the area. Very affordable for Vancouver Downtown Eastside residents as Carnegie provides meals that are well-balanced for any diet! 🙂

The Salmon Dinner at Carnegie was well liked judging by others enjoying their dinners in the Cafeteria. The salmon was cooked to perfection, the yukon gold potatoes were just right and the addition of dill to the coleslaw was a very nice touch 🙂
