Peter of AHA MEDIA says:

Coming off Vikram Vij’s Indian review, I had a chance to sit down and take in Chuck Hughes’ (of Chuck’s Day and Week Off on Food Network) show at the Eat Vancouver Festival. To say that they are very different would be an understatement. Where Vikram had colorful and handmade curries, Chuck brought refined french cooking. Where Vikram brought a down to earth style of presentation, Chuck was rough, abrupt, and sarcastic. However, these added to his charm as he kept people fascinated by his descriptions of french cuisine. His scallops were a huge hit but what had people talking was his upside down cherry tort. Would I recommend Vikram over Chuck? Not at all. Both are amazing chefs but with completely different styles and backgrounds.

Peter of AHA MEDIA says:

What defines Vancouver? In my opinion it is the people and the variety. When you put them together you get a wide variety of delicious food from many different backgrounds. Eat Vancouver is a festival that brings everyone together under one roof (BC Place stadium) to enjoy great food and the company of other foodies. From Curry to Smoked Salmon and just about every other food in between, the Festival had it all. I  came away with a full belly and a greater understanding of food. One word of advice, do not eat anything before coming otherwise you will wind up not trying everything.

208th DTES Street Market in Vancouver on Sun June 1, 2014

208th DTES Street Market and 22nd Street Market of 2014

Roland Clarke, Coordinator of the DTES Street Market says:

It was a beautiful day. The sun was out, and the weather was perfect.

The two coordinators spent most of the day at Victory Square for the Fair in the Square, and the market trundled along without them for most of the day.

Many buttons and flags were given away at the Fair in the Square, with our market at Pigeon Park operating for the first time on autopilot.
This was a great experiment. It was the first time that we actually ran two events on the same day, and shows that with a little planning, we can do a huge amount with scarce resources.
