Visual Arts/Art in the Streets

FESTIVAL ART STROLL Community Studios and Galleries
Friday October 26, 5pm – 10pm

Numerous organizations in the Downtown Eastside provide opportunities for local residents to participate in art making. Four of these organizations are featured in our new Festival Arts Stroll.
Gallery Gachet has an extensive and storied history producing art shows created by and with professional and non-professional artists. The Carnegie Community Centre provides opportunities for Downtown Eastside involved residents to take art programs and workshops and to present their work. Atira Housing supports art making, community art projects and arts and craft retail sales through their project EWMA (Enterprising Women Making Art). And Mission Possible has StudioWorks Art Studio/Gallery and Pottery Facility to provide space for artists who are residents of the Downtown Eastside and don’t have room to practice their craft.
Stroll. Dance your way down the street in a procession. Enjoy gallery openings, refreshments, friends and neighbours. Experience a sampling of the fascinating and diverse art that Downtown Eastside residents are creating here in the heart of our city. Free
