What a blessing to be able to hear such amazing music and see fine musicianship during an afternoon jam at Carnegie Centre!
It’s wonderful to be able to discover true talent and part of Canada’s Music Royalty right in our own neighborhood! We are truly lucky !! 🙂

Cyrous Sharifpour, Owner of Waves Coffee at Main and Cordova speaks about helping in the Vancouver Downtown Eastside (DTES)
Vodpod videos no longer available.
In this video, Cyrous Sharifpour, Owner of Waves Coffee on Main and Cordova ( across the Vancouver Police Station ) speaks about his Coffee and how his shop wants to help our Downtown Eastside neighborhood! 🙂
For more information on our DTES area, please read the wikipedia link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downtown_Eastside
Cyrous is a warm hearted and gregarious man who makes sure that everyone in his coffee shop is having a wonderful time!
In this day and age, it’s quite rare to see the owner step out from behind his desk to come out and engage with his customers! 🙂 What a welcoming feeling that is to feel valued as customers! People wish to connect to something local in our area and Waves Coffee at Main and Cordova is it! 🙂
Waves Coffee sponsors local non profit groups from here in our DTES neighborhood to bigger venues such as our recent “Women in Film Festival” at the VanCity Theatre where our mentor Mo Simpson was honored with an award from Kodak to a Large well attended multicultural event at the Plaza of Nations where over 5,000 cups of coffee were poured to support the arts and shows!
It”s such a great feeling knowing that there are still people like Cyrous and places like Waves Coffee that help the local scene 🙂
As AHAMEDIA are emerging new media and social media citizen journalists, we are glad to know that there are places in our neighborhood that have Free Wireless from 6AM – 12 midnight everyday! We are a very mobile and multimedia production team, and we are glad that a warm place with great customer service and coffee is open for people like us!

Hello world! Our Very First Post online! :)
Welcome to WordPress.com. This is your first post….
Today on Canada’s Remembrance Day 2008… AHA Media is born on WordPress today!
We at AHA MEDIA have never done this before – going online on our very own site that is ! 🙂
We’re a group of Downtown Eastside residents that have been learning about technology from the Fearless City Mobile Project. We are trying to bridge the digital divide!
We were inspired to form a little group of media makers called AHA MEDIA and we hope to continue doing:
Mobile media production,
Social media event reporting,
Citizen journalism
Project documenation/Archiving
We want to become an active supporting member of all our communities with our new media handheld devices especially with Nokia cameraphones.
We want to give an alternative focus to media representation of the Vancouver Downtown Eastside – we at AHA MEDIA live and work in this area and we hope this site will be a news resource for people to see and hear about us.
We will include personal stories from neighborhood residents and our community engagement/outreach about our growing and changing area to the rest of the world – both online and offline 🙂
Through this site, AHA MEDIA is learning to use social media to help our neighborhood’s social justice, housing and economic issues.
We are excited about learning, growing and working with everyone! 🙂
Thank you very much for your support
