Land Awards 2011 by The Real Estate Foundation of BC
The Real Estate Foundation of BC announced the winners of the 2011 Land Awards at a gala celebration in Vancouver on November 3 2011
The Land Awards celebrate initiatives that showcase leadership, innovation, and collaboration related to the sustainable use and conservation of land in British Columbia. The awards are broken into four sectors: private, public, non-profit, as well as individual. Below is a list of this year’s winners:
- Private sector: River District by ParkLane Homes
- Public sector: Metro Vancouver 2040: Shaping Our Future by Metro Vancouver
- Non-profit sector: Darkwoods Forest Carbon Project by the Nature Conservancy of Canada
- Individual Land Champion: Mark Angelo
“We are pleased to recognize these exceptional organizations and individuals,” said Jack Wong, Real Estate Foundation CEO. “They stand out as models for how we can develop more responsibly—and, even more fundamentally, how we can plan our communities in ways that meet the needs of people and the environment we all share.”
In introducing the finalists and the awards, event chair, Kelly Lerigny, noted, “The projects we recognize are truly outstanding. They represent the accomplishments of people in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. As leaders in our province, they have put their dreams and ideas into action to solve environmental problems; to address social issues; to revitalize local economies; and to plan livable, healthy communities. We all benefit from their example.”
Over 280 people joined the celebration at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver on Thursday evening, and a fair number continued to share conversation–and dance–at the afterparty. James Intveld and his band played to an appreciative crowd at the Rooftop Lounge.
